SmartScapes was founded five years ago by husband and wife team, Jake and Emily Thompson, who share a deep passion for sustainable outdoor living. With complementary professional backgrounds—Jake in environmental engineering and Emily in landscape design—they saw an opportunity to merge their expertise and create landscapes that are both beautiful and environmentally responsible.
Jake spent over a decade working on large-scale environmental projects, focusing on water conservation and sustainable land management. Emily, with her artistic eye and deep knowledge of Texas native plants, had been designing landscapes that thrived in Austin's challenging climate. Together, they envisioned a company that would not only enhance outdoor spaces but do so in a way that nurtures the environment and conserves resources.
